Science fiction fans to gather in Seattle
Rusty Con is returning to Seattle for the 34th year and will take place over three days next month. It is a convention dedicated to fantasy, science fiction, and science fact.
The theme of this year’s convention is ‘Gathering of Guilds’. There are activities planned over the three days that will appeal to people of all ages and interests. There will be gaming tournaments, readings, workshops, and panels. Several special guests, including author Robin Hobb, cosplayer Bill Doran, and artist Michela Eaver, will make an appearance.
The Marketplace will feature a variety of items that guests may be looking for, including handmade jewelry, costumes, and books. There is also set to be an art show.
There will also be many social events including the Kids’ Friday Night Dance Party, which will be followed by the Cosplay Masquerade. Participants in the masquerade will be competing for prizes in four categories: 13 and under, novice, journeyman, and master. The costumes will be judged on presentation and craftsmanship.
Vendors at the marketplace may invest in banners from a Seattle printing company to bring more attention to their tables.
Rusty Con 34 will be held at the Seattle Airport Marriott from January 13 to 15. Passes are $50 in advance and $60 at the door for adults, and $25 or $30 for children between the ages of 8 and 15. Visit the official website to learn more.
