What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Free walking tours returning to Washington Park Arboretum

Free walks through Seattle's arboretum will begin again at the beginning of August, according to the park's website.

The Washington Park's Arboretum is 230 acres of green space along Lake Washington. It has many species that can only be found in the park, and has a world-class collection of flora.

The park is operated by the University of Washington's Botanic Gardens and the City of Seattle. It is home to a variety of themed gardens, including a Japanese Garden and a space dedicated to azaleas, as well as collections of maples, oaks and camellias. Several walking trails wind through the greenery.

In January 2019, the arboretum began free walking tours of the area scheduled on the first Thursday of every month. Visitors could get insightful information on the plants they were seeing with a guide free of charge. After a pause this summer, the next scheduled free tour is set for August.

Part of the tours include a history of the area and educational information on the study of botany.

Parks and walking tours such as these can use local printing services for signs and informational brochure printing.

The 1st Thursday Free Arboretum Walk is scheduled for Thursday, August 6 from 11 am to 1 pm. Walks begin at the Graham Visitors Center at the Washington Park Arboretum, 2300 Arboretum Drive East in Seattle.
