What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Festival celebrates best in film

The 47th annual Seattle International Film Festival is taking place for 11 days next month, and will be a virtual event this year.

The festival celebrates international and independent film. Over 400 will be shown this year in categories such as Feature Film, Short Film, Documentary Short Film, and Future Wave which highlights filmmakers aged 18 and younger. In addition, there will be forums, panel discussions, opening and closing night parties, and access to works-in-progress.

An important part of the festival is the Golden Space Needle Awards which hands out awards for Best Film, Documentary Feature, Director, Actor, Actress and Best Film. There are also several other individual awards including one for Best New Director, Best New American Cinema and Documentary.

Tickets for the general public are $350 for All-Access which includes all films, parties and films, $250 for all regularly-priced films, and $75 for six films; there is a discount for members of the SIFF.

The event is a way for the public to be made aware of the newest films that may not be seen in the theaters for a while due to local restrictions. Residents of Seattle, as well as visitors, may be made aware of events like this through advertising provided by local stationery printers.

The festival will take place from April 8 to 18. To learn more, visit the event website.
