Childrens festival returns for another fun-filled year
The 5th annual Seattle Children’s Festival is taking place for one day next month.
The festival promises to feature over 200 performers of all kinds including musicians, storytellers, dancers and popular children’s entertainers.
There will be a Discovery Zone where children can learn about science in the STEAM Lab, learn about music at an instrument petting zoo or watch some film screenings. There are also set to be several cooking workshops and demonstrations on eating healthy. The My Healthy Kids section will host dance and music workshops with the Movement Series.
Many different organizations such as the Bike Works, Town Hall Seattle and the Pacific Science Center will be hosting hands-on activities for children of all ages.
Some of those that will be performing this year include Caspar Babypants (musician Chris Ballew) and 206 Zulu’s Prince vs. Prince. Each year the festival has a cultural focus and this year it is “Echoes of Aztlan and Beyond”; as part of this, the traditional dance group Para Los Ninos will be performing as will Grupo Folklórico Nuestras Raíces.
Seattle print shops often provide the advertising for annual events such as this.
The Seattle Children’s Festival will be held at the Seattle Center Armory on September 22. Tickets are what-you-can-pay but a $10 donation is appreciated. Call 206-684-7200 for the most current information.
