Anime festival returns to Seattle for another year
The 20th annual Sakura Con is taking place for three days next month in Seattle, and will be presented by the Asia Northwest Cultural Education Association.
The main reason for this convention is to celebrate anime, manga, and Japanese popular culture. The event will feature film showings, game tournaments, and discussion panels. This year's special guests will include illustrator Abec, the all-girl Japanese rock group Band-Maid, and figures like Chuck Huber Bio, Megan Emerick, and Miki Kazuma.
There is also a manga library, art competitions, a masquerade ball, and musical concerts. As has been the case in previous years, there will be a charity auction, which will benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
One of the most popular parts of the convention is always the dealers’ room. Vendors will be selling comics, graphic novels, films, photographs, and any other type of related merchandise available.
Last year's convention attracted 23,000 visitors. To spread the word this year in Seattle and beyond, organizers might have invested in poster printing services. These posters can be displayed in various public buildings in the area.
Sakura Con will be held at the Washington State Convention Center from March 25 to 27. Three-day passes cost $60 until March 1 or $70 at the door. Contact Elmira Utz at 415-399-0805 to find out more about planned activities over the three-day event.
