The Midsummer Opera Dream Festival will launch its second season with a public educational event designed to provide audiences with a behind-the-scenes look at professional vocal performance.
Hosted by Canto Vocal Programs, the evening will feature a live coaching session led by its founders Sharon Mohar and Liora Maurer.
The program offers attendees an opportunity to observe the artistic development process that takes place between performers and instructors. Maurer, a vocal coach associated with the Metropolitan Opera, and Mohar, the organization’s artistic director, will guide singers through interpretation, technique, and stage expression in real time.
The masterclass welcomes opera enthusiasts, students, performers, and community members interested in learning more about the art form.
Admission to the event is free. However, attendees may choose to support the nonprofit organization through optional contributions. Donation options include a $10 contribution for $12.51 including fees, a $20 contribution for $23.18, a $50 contribution for $55.20, and a $100 contribution for $108.55. Proceeds help support emerging performers and career development opportunities within the opera community.
As with many arts and cultural programs, organizers often work with Print shops to produce event programs, promotional materials, and educational resources for attendees.
The Masterclass by the Canto Founders will take place on Wednesday, July 8th, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Dreamscapes Performing Arts Center, 21014 Whitfield Place, Sterling, Virginia. The event welcomes all ages and offers complimentary parking.
