Sugar Land attends Day of the Dead
As part of the Sugar Land Heritage Museum's celebration of our 126 annual Sugar Land Hispanic Heritage, The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation will be commemorating with Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead in late October.
Attendees may learn about the holiday's history and traditions by taking part in interactive exhibits and attending workshops. Aztec dancers, ballet folklorico and mariachis will provide live entertainment. Escalantes will be selling authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks. An artisan market will have vendors selling vibrant colored items from Mexico and Latin American countries, and there will be plenty of activities for the children.
Vendors and artisans that sell at events like this often have colorful business cards printed at local printing services.
The celebration will be holding a Catrin/Catrina Costume Contest. The contest will be limited to the first 20 participants to enter and be admitted by the organizing committee. First prize will be $700, second $500 and third $300.
The Sugar Land Heritage Museum is asking donations to offset the cost of catering, marketing, print, costume contest and awards, transportation, signage and decorations, transportation, children's activities and live music. Sponsorships range from $1500 to $10,000.
The event will be free and will take place from noon to 5:00 pm at Sugar Land Town Square, 2700 Town Center Boulevard, Saturday, October 25th.
