The 5th annual DIY Musician Conference is taking place this year in Austin. It will run for three days, and is a presentation of CD Baby.
The aim of the conference is to provide up and coming musical artists with the ability to market themselves and make the best of their talents. Attendees can choose from three separate educational tracks: Money, Make, and Market. Breakout sessions will feature topics such as getting playlisted, growing a fan base, songwriting and getting booked to play. The keynote address will be given on the last day of the conference by Mexican-American musician and songwriter Alejandro Escovedo.
Attendees also have the opportunity to showcase their talents by performing for those in the entertainment industry who can help them. There will be plenty of opportunities during the conference for attendees to network with their peers and with industry professionals, and mentoring sessions will also be available.
Events like this are important for musicians who have yet to be signed by a record label. In order to keep in touch with the people they meet, many attendees from the area, including nearby Pflugerville, will likely be placing a business card printing order with a favorite printing company.
The conference will be held from August 16 to 18 at the Hilton Austin. Fees are $159 per person. Visit the event website to learn more.
