The 12th annual Pfall Chili Fest is taking place next month in Pflugerville.
Chili makers of all kinds – professionals, individuals and businesses – will be showing off their chili cooking skills to the public.
The competition consists of four categories: Texas Chili, White Chili, Experimental, and Vegetarian. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges. In addition, there will also be a people's choice competition. Guests can purchase 10 two-ounce cups and a spoon for $5; this will also come with a ballot to vote for the best chili.
In addition to the chili competition, there will be jalapeno and pickle eating contests. The jalapeno contest is for adults aged 18 and over and there will be cash prizes of $150 for first place, $75 for second place, and $25 for third. The pickle contest consists of two categories, age 6-12 and 13-17. The prices for this one will be $50 for first, $30 for second, and $20 for third.
There will also be a kids' area with inflatables and face painting, music from Blind Innocence, and vendors.
