History buffs interested in what Humble’s pioneer days were like should note that Redbud Hill's Old-Fashioned Christmas will occur next month.
The host of the event is the North Harris County Dulcimer Society (NHCDS), which is a group of passionate music lovers and musicians with a focus on instruments such as the mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, and autoharp. The group also hosts free monthly classes in these instruments. The NHCDS is also a central part of next month's Christmas event as members of the group will put on a traditional Christmas concert for guests.
The event will also feature historical re-enactments that will bring to life 19th-Century holiday customs. Attendees will get to make special holiday crafts, drink a traditional hot cider called wassail, eat homemade cookies, and even meet Saint Nicolas. There will be something for the whole family to enjoy.
Festivals like this often invite local artisans to set up arts and crafts booths at the venue. Being in such a high-traffic area may encourage vendors to restock their supply of Business Cards so that they can make connections with festivalgoers.
The old-fashioned Christmas is scheduled for Saturday, December 10 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Redbud Hill Homestead is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive. The band will be playing on the homestead porch. Reservations are not required to attend.
