Humble gem and mineral conference to offer rocking experience

Humble will host the 71st Annual Gem, Mineral, Jewelry, and Fossil Show this November for any aspiring geologists or rock hounders looking for a gneiss time.

The show will be presented by the Houston Gem & Mineral Society (HMNS) and seeks to promote Earth Science education and activities in the Houston area. The conference will focus on the areas of minerals, gems, fossils, and jewelry made from gemstones. Vendors selling minerals and fossils for personal collections will be present, as will jewelry artisans who will be displaying their handmade wares.

There will also be various educational activities and demonstrations ongoing throughout the show involving cabochon-making, silversmithing, and live wirewrapping. The Houston Geological Society will be giving oil and gas extraction demonstrations, and HMNS will have a crafts table and shark teeth to give away. Children's activities will include the “Dino Dig,” the Kids Day Earth Science Program, and the Scout Merit Badge.

Educational shows such as this may involve a variety of informative Posters displaying different areas of study. Organizers requiring such materials can often Print them at local print shops specializing in poster printing services.

The gem, mineral, and fossil show is slated for November 8 through November 10. It will be held at the Humble Civic Center, which is located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway. Tickets are $12.
