Humble festival to showcase 19th-Century holiday traditions

This holiday season, Redbud Hill Homestead and the Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center in Humble will host the Homestead for the Holidays, which will offer a unique way to experience what the holidays were like in the 19th Century.

The Redbud Hill Homestead is located inside the ground of the Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, which is part of a 312-acre nature preserve that contains eight miles of paved trails and many unpaved trails. The Redbud Hill Homestead is a preserved 19th-Century homestead and house that plays host to many educational and history-themed events.

At the homestead next month, attendees will have the chance to observe and participate in some 19th-Century holiday customs, such as caroling, choir performances, and arts and crafts. There will also be hayrides, a visit of Saint Nicholas, and presentations on Wintering Wildlife. Various areas around the homestead will be staged for photos, so guests are encouraged to dress in holiday garb.

Historical reenactment events will often have printed Brochures to hand out that detail the history of the venue. Organizers may decide to visit local Print shops specializing in brochure printing services to prepare these materials.

The Homestead for The Holidays event is slated for Saturday, December 14 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The homestead is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive.
