The Shell Houston Open is returning to the area for a week, beginning at the end of this month.
Already, more than 10 major golf players from all over the world have decided to attend. With the deadline being March 27, it is likely that more will add their names to the billing.
Among those taking part in this year's tournament are Ernie Els of South Africa, Paul Casey from England, Patrick Reed of the U.S., and Victor Dubuisson from France. There are also two pro-am (professional and amateur) tournaments taking place.
The Open raises fund for the Houston Gold Association's Benefiting Charities, which give money to community outreach and youth programs. One special fundraiser is Birdies for Charity, through which spectators pledge at least one cent for every ‘birdie’ (completion of a hole in one strike under par) scored on the golf course. Winners receive prizes, and since its inception this program has raised over $6m.
Organizers of the tournament are still looking for volunteers to help.
No doubt people will come to Humble from all over the United States and many other countries. To help advertise, organizers may invest in Booklets and Flyers from local Print companies.
The Shell Houston Open will take place at the Golf Club of Houston from March 30 to April 5. General admission tickets are $30 until March 30 and $35 thereafter, while Champions Pavilion tickets are $45 or $50.
