Woodcrafting shop now open in Myrtle Beach

Board and Brush, a woodcrafting shop where patrons can do-it-themselves, is now open in Myrtle Beach.

The shop was opened by Jacob Hughes, his wife Jordynn; and her parents. Their patrons can design wooden Signs of their own using templates provided by the shop. There are hundreds of designs available for the purpose.

Mr. Hughes says people are welcome to make signs of any kind, which they can display anywhere inside their home. With the proper coating, he says, the signs can also be used outdoors.

There is another Board and Brush in Pennsylvania, run by other members of the Hughes family. The success of that studio sparked the idea of opening another in Florida. In addition, Mr. Hughes's background includes carpentry and construction. Their newly opened store is the only location in the area, though Mr. Hughes said he hopes to expand in the future. New businesses like this sometimes distribute Promotional Products to their first customers to help build brand recognition.

Customers can enroll in classes online, and choose one from approximately 400 design templates to use to make their own signs. The studio supplies all the paint, stains, and tools anyone needs to create and finish their projects. Hughes teaches customers how to distress their signs using screws and hammers to age them, then stencil, stain, or paint them. The whole process takes less than three hours.
