Three runs in Myrtle Beach

Three runs over a two-day period are now planned for Myrtle Beach, so runners can take their pick.

The Myrtle Beach Mini-Marathon, Coastal 5K, and Doggie Dash promise lots of fun for serious runners, as well as those who just want to enjoy a day outdoors. The mini-marathon will cover 13.1 miles; the 5K will cover 3.1 miles; and the Doggie Dish is a mile in length.

The mini-marathon has a surfing theme, and the finisher medals that will be given out are in the shape of surfboards. The race course covers more than five miles along the ocean. After the race, participants are invited to the main stage in Plyler Park to listen to surf-style music. The mini-marathon course is flat.

The 5K is a looping course that starts at Market Common, winds through the village, and finishes at Grand Park Lake. Like the mini-marathon, the route is completely flat.

Unlike the other two races, the Doggie Dash is not timed, and the race is specifically designed for dog owners. Part of the proceeds from this particular race go to support the Grand Strand Humane Society.

The mini-marathon starts at 7.00 am on October 18; the 5K begins at 7.30 am on October 17; and the Doggie Dash is set to begin at 8.45 am on October 17, immediately after the 5K. Banner printing is often used to create course markers for events like this.
