A sports center in Myrtle Beach has plans to book different types of sports if the city will renew its lease.
Sports Facility Management Advisory, LLC, manages the Myrtle Beach Sports Center, and indoor sports complex, and has been doing so since the doors opened in 2015. Company representatives recently went before the Myrtle Beach City Council to discuss the possibility of renewing their lease on the center for an additional five years. The current lease ends in March, 2020.
Sports Facility's co-founder and CEO, Jason Clement, explained that if officials renew his company's lease on the center, he plans to increase marketing and branding efforts, optimize the center, plan events that are more innovative, and increase revenue collected per visit. Graphic design can be used to help create materials for improvements like this.
Clement also explained that company intends to increase security, as well as focusing on the revenues it can earn from the sales of food and beverages. It also intends to bring new activities to the center; in particular, esports.
Simply defined, esports is competitive video gaming, played at a professional level. Most esports are played by teams organized in leagues. They have tournaments during the year, which end in a final contest. Estimates of the value of the esports industry are in billions of dollars. The revenue the center could raise from hosting such events would allow it to upgrade its technology and renovate some of its aging infrastructure.
