A well-loved tradition that takes place once each year along the South Carolina coast will be returning in early July, and Myrtle Beach is on the list of communities that can view the spectacle.
It has been 16 years since the original Salute from the Shore first took to the sky in a flyover that recognized the sacrifices made by military members and their families. It has been held annually ever since, and everyone is invited to get involved.
Partaking planes will fly along the entire length of the South Carolina coastline, and everyone is encouraged to prepare a huge sign, flag, or banner to display as they go by, perhaps calling in at a banner printing company before the day to ensure they have what they need.
Guests are also asked to wear red, white, and blue attire and film their Salute so they can post it on social media. The suggested hashtag is #SalutefromtheShore. Both military and vintage aircraft have been invited to participate, and they can be spotted from Myrtle Beach to Hilton Head.
Slate from the Shore will offer a tangible demonstration of support for the troops on Friday, July 4. More details about timings and the best viewing spots will be added to its web listing closer to its scheduled date.
