South Carolina oyster fans will be congregating near Myrtle Beach in late February for an afternoon of savoring this popular shellfish.
Grand Strand Health will be the presenting sponsor for the 15th annual Grand Strand Oyster Roast, which is being organized and hosted by Grand Strand Young Professionals. The public is on the guestlist, and both adult and children’s meals will be available.
The activity, which will be held at The Hot Fish Club in Murrells Inlet, will treat its attendees to all-you-can-eat oysters as well as a plate of chicken bog, which is a rustic, Southern style chicken and sausage casserole. A selection of sides will be served, and adult tickets also include two beers. There are also options for passes that do not include the oysters for the landlubbers in the crowd. Live entertainment is in the works too.
Monies raised during the roast will be donated to the Substitutes for Santa holiday gifting program for kids in need. To help ensure everyone at the event has a good time, commemorative oyster shuckers will be available for purchase. The roast will be delighting seafood lovers on Monday, February 24. It will be open from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Guests are asked not to bring outside chairs.
