As spring gets underway, Myrtle Beach gardeners will be able to help Mother Nature by purchasing locally grown native plants.
The Grand Strand South Carolina Native Plant Society (SCNPS) Native Plant Sale will give the gardening public access to a large assortment of plants that are native to the local area. Several area nurseries and other growers that offer these species have been invited to join the fun.
Onsite sellers will include at least eight companies and groups, and as the organizers feel it is never too soon to get started with environmental stewardship, there will be fun for the kids. Clemson Extension will supply low-cost soil testing, which may help guide decisions when choosing plants. Admission will be free, and SCNPS members will have first crack at the plants as well as an option to pre-order.
Pop-up plant sales can be a fun way for thrifty gardeners, collectors, and those interested in specific species to fill their beds.
