Myrtle Beach playground edges nearer to completion

Work is continuing on a popular playground in Myrtle Beach, which means it should be completed soon.

According to city officials, who posted the information on the city's Facebook page, work is now being done on Phase Two of Savannah's Playground, which is in The Market Common. The Commons is a lifestyle center that has been developed on the site of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. The playground is the first one in the city that is accessible to disabled children all year long.

The post explained that the base coat was put down recently at the expanded play section, and the top coat was expected to be added soon. City officials added that the fence that will be put around the pond nearby is on order, and will be installed as soon as it arrives. Workers on the site said they believe the work on the park will be finished in approximately two weeks.

Adding a second phase to the playground also brought in another $400,000 worth of equipment for park users to enjoy. Openings of major community improvements like this are often promoted with flyer printing.

The playground first opened on Labor Day, 2016, and is fitted out with playground equipment that meets ADA standards. The structures are designed so that children of all levels of ability can enjoy successful social interaction.
