A major supermarket chain wants to make shopping easier, and is opening stores in Myrtle Beach and Florence featuring a different model.
Food Lion invested over $150m earlier this year in 92 of its stores, hiring approximately 2,000 new associates, remodeling the facilities, and giving back to communities where the stores are located. Food Lion's president, Meg Ham, said taking these measures would make grocery shopping a new experience for Food Lion's customers.
The company has reorganized its stores, expanded the number of products it carries and their variety, and made checking out more efficient. Six of the stores – those in Ravenel, Georgetown, Dillon, Florence, Columbia, and Andrews – now have walk-in coolers for produce. These will keep the produce much fresher than displaying it in a traditional produce section. In Lumberton, the store has been completely renovated. Poster printing can provide Signs to make it easy for shoppers to locate items after renovations like this.
Customers who were among the first 100 in line at the recent opening received a reusable grocery bag with the Food Lion logo, a Food Lion apron, and a gift card valued at $10. A $250 gift card went to one lucky customer, and that evening, the company held a second round of celebrations, giving away more $10 gift cards to the first 100 people in line at 92 Food Lions.
