A major race is coming up in Myrtle Beach that serious runners should enjoy.
The Myrtle Beach Marathon is a full marathon that is also a qualifying race for those who want to run the famous Boston Marathon. There is only a 25-foot gain in elevation over the entire course, making the almost-flat course a perfect place to get a good look at the city. The run starts close to Broadway at the Beach, at the intersection of 21st Avenue and Grissom Parkway; from there, runners will go along Ocean Boulevard, and finish the run at Pelicans Ballpark.
At the ballpark after the race, massage therapists will be on hand to help runners recover. There will also be free beer, plus live music from Liquid Pleasure, a local favorite. Spectators and runners who have finished the race are encouraged to remain and cheer on those who are still crossing the finish line, since the event goes on for the entire day. Stands with sports drinks and water will be set up about every two miles and the finish line, and food stations will be located at mile 14, 22, and the finish.
The Myrtle Beach Marathon is scheduled for March 7, starting at 7.00 am. Those running with crankchairs or wheelchairs will start at 6.55 am. At 1.30 pm, the course will close. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for events like this.
