Executive HeliJet, which current operates at the Myrtle Beach International Airport as well as the North Myrtle Beach Airport, has announced plans for expansion.
The company says it plans to create 75 jobs in Horry County, as it invests about $1m in Myrtle Beach. The expansion will give the company the ability to create a one-stop-shop for customers who need anything else relating to aviation.
Executive HeliJet's CEO, Jeremy Bass, said residents of Horry County would have first call on the jobs. Bass says the company plans to hire in management, technical and professional support, and repair and maintenance. He also said that an applicant's prior education is of no consequence, since the company will help new hires achieve their aims. According to Bass, if someone wants to become a pilot or mechanic, HeliJet will help them do so. He says his company is “just looking for good people, that's it.”
Myrtle Beach officials say the expansion could boost the local economy as well as providing new opportunities for area students. Peg Skalican, of the PIA Campus for Aviation and Technology, says the expansion is a gift to aviation students, who needed to relocate for jobs after graduation. Now, the jobs will be in Myrtle Beach.
HeliJet could create Brochures about the new jobs, and make them available to local high schools and colleges.
