Dogs have their day in Myrtle Beach

Pet Sitters International celebrated ‘Take Your Dog to Work Day’ last Friday, June 23, in Myrtle Beach. This was the 19th year the organization has acknowledged how important pets are to people.

The workplace in question was the Brandon Agency, a full-service, independently-owned marketing and advertising agency that has offices in Myrtle Beach as well as the Carolinas, Tennessee, Cleveland, Breckenridge, and overseas in Sofia, Bulgaria. Brandon joined with the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach and encouraged employees to bring their dogs to work—but it also helped find forever homes for dogs eligible for adoption.

The day was a fundraiser for the society's veterinary fund, which is used to pay for food, medicine, and necessary surgeries for the animals housed at North Myrtle Beach's Humane Society. For example, a dog name Ellie needs hip surgery priced at $5,000.

The day saw nine of the agency's employees bring their dogs to work, and the human society brought four dogs from the shelter that are ready to be adopted. Agency employees “rented” the dogs for the day, and the dogs themselves got to get away from the shelter and enjoy some free time. All the money raised went to the society, and the dogs got plenty of TLC from Ultimate Pet Services.

Events like this can benefit if organizers create Brochures to explain the fundraiser, and how people can help.
