Three shopping malls on Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand are undergoing major changes, according to a December 5 news item.
The Myrtle Beach Mall, which is the oldest on the Strand, is trying to capture more customers. Its new owners have added an ice rink, and plan to remodel its food court and add new entrances.
New managers have taken over Inlet Square Mall, which has a number of vacant spaces. The new management company will work to turn that situation around.
In the meantime, Coastal Grand Mall will add an H&M store comprising 20,000 square feet. The new store will open next October, and the Coastal Grand will be 100% leased for the first time ever.
Joe Perl, who manages the Myrtle Beach Mall, believes malls are the cornerstones of the communities they serve, but they also have to make the experience of shopping in their brick-and-mortal stores somewhat similar to shopping online. He argues that clicking a mouse cannot truly replace the experience of coming to a mall and shopping physically.
Economist William Nadolski, of Horry Georgetown Technical College, agrees with Perl. He says malls have to “sell” the experience of shopping in person if they want to stay in business.
Mall managers can work with banner printing companies to create Banners to hang above entrances to the malls, and to individual stores, to add to the fun of the mall experience.Get a Free Quote for Banners
