Royersford festival to show love to frequent flyers

Many people are fascinated by the life cycle and migration of the monarch butterfly, and a Royersford area event will give them pride of place.

Colonial Gardens will be giving these long-distance Flyers a special send-off during the annual Butterfly Festival, and one of the activities on the agenda will be a release of 400 monarchs. The whole family can enjoy the celebration, and the price to reserve a butterfly is $10.

Along with the butterfly release, the function will feature a pop-up market with area vendors, and several not-for-profit booths have been invited to participate as well. The location’s garden will be open for touring, and there will also be information provided about a variety of environmental initiatives taking place in the community.

Local small businesses that would like to get involved in the celebration are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible. Each will be 10 feet by 10 feet, and the location is accessible to anyone who needs a mobility device. A banner printing company will be happy to prepare signage and booth decor to use during any outdoor event.

Colonial Gardens will be celebrating monarchs and the role they play in the environment on Saturday, August 20. Its website offers additional information as well as an opportunity to reserve a monarch.
