Hazardous waste disposal day held in Royersford

Royersford recently played host to an event intended to help householders get rid of hazardous waste that couldn’t be disposed of in their typical household garbage.

The drop-off day, which was held at Soring-Ford Ninth Grade Center, allowed Montgomery county residents to drop off items such as oil, gasoline kerosene, paint thinner, turpentine, stains, oil paint, varnish, herbicides, pool chemicals, pesticides, mercury, and solvents.

‘E wastes’, such as old electronics, computers, and cell phones were not accepted, which was also the case for medical waste, asbestos, appliances, ammunition, explosives, tires, smoke detectors, or waste that contained anything radioactive.

Items such as latex paint, household batteries, and water-based paint were also rejected, as they can be disposed of in the regular household garbage.

A flyer printing firm can create informational materials that can be distributed to locals so that they can take full advantage of the events and know what they can and cannot bring.

Anyone who requires more information is invited to visit the county’s website, where full details of the program have been provided for the public.

This was the third time this year that such a collection point has been established. Another will be held on August 8 at Abington Junior High School, and a fifth will take place on October 18 at lower Merion Transfer Station.
