Blobfest 2015 is taking place over three days this July in nearby Phoenixville. It is a celebration of the 1950s cult movie ‘The Blob’, which starred Steve McQueen and was partly filmed in the borough.
The first night is The Run Out; it is limited to 350 and is already sold out. It is set to feature a stage show hosted by Mr. Lobo, and special guests will be Dr. Frank N. Stone, Dash Daring, and others. At 9:00pm, participants will re-enact the run out of the theater doors as seen in the movie.
The next day is a street fair. There will be an extinguisher parade, a costume contests, a merchant facade contest, and music from Ghoul A Go-Go. Food and merchandise vendors will also be on hand. Later on in the evening, there will be film showings of The Blob, The Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D, and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
The festival will finish off with showings of The Blob and Ghastly Love of Johnny X.
This event attracts people from all over the area, no doubt including Royersford. Local Print companies may have provided Posters and other printed materials to help spread the word.
