The 34th annual Canal Day is taking place next month in nearby Mont Clare.
This event promises a wide variety of activities throughout the day that should appeal to people of all ages. A free shuttle will be running all day from the parking lot.
Food and drink will be available for purchase, there will be musical entertainment, and kids will be entertained with games and craft activities. One popular event that will be returning this year will be the Canal Joust, which takes place in a vessel in the water using a padded paddle.
The 5M River Trail Run/Denny Porrini Memorial Run will be held during the day. It is a fundraiser for the Schuylkill Canal Association. The participation fee is $25 per person.
There is also the Canoe/Kayak 5-miler Water Trail Race, which will take place beginning at 11:00 AM. Awards will be given to winners in both categories. The fee to participate in this event is $15.
Visitors from nearby communities such as Royersford will likely make the short trip to attend this event. To help spread the word, organizers may invest in Flyers or poster printing services.
