Every summer, Fairview Park works on its roads and streets. This year's work has been scheduled, and five streets have been identified for repairs. They are
Westpark Drive between Eaton Road and North Park; West 224th at the intersection with Mastick Road; Rivercliff Drive; Bohlken Park Entryway; and Angela Drive. The work to be done includes asphalt repair, as well as spot curb and concrete repairs, according to a recent article in the Sun News.
According to Eileen Ann Patton, Fairview Park's mayor, the cost of the work this year is estimated at $536,000, up from 2015, when the total was $436,000. The streets and roads will remain open to traffic as the work goes ahead.
Patton said that residents vote on their road program, which is funded by income tax, every six years. All of the city's streets are given a weight, with the program implemented when the total money collected is known. Patton says that the cost of materials has risen, so the city has to plan carefully when deciding which streets to repair and how much money to spend.
Clifford Drive, has been taken off the list because of flooding, leading the city to plan sewer maintenance. However, the sewer project won't be started until more data is received.
Flyer printing companies can create helpful materials to assist drivers in planning routes around the construction zones, and finding complete detours, if necessary.
