The celebrated Cleveland Orchestra recently announced its schedule of Music Study Groups for 2014-2015.
The groups will begin at the end of September and continue until May, 2015. There are three series offered, so potential attendees can choose the one that fits their schedule best – be it fall, winter, or spring.
The music study groups comprise a series of lectures and presentations of music from the orchestra's upcoming season. Participants, who may be long-time fans of classical music, those just beginning to appreciate it, or anyone in between, can learn how to understand orchestral music by listening to skilled player perform some of the works planned for the season in Severance Hall.
They will also learn about the composers’ lives and their style of music, as well as setting the compositions in the historical and cultural context of the times in which they were written.
The study groups will be held at various branches of the public library system, including that in Fairview Park. The Fairview Park Library will host the fall series, which runs from September 30 to November 13; it is hosting only the single series. Meetings are slated for Wednesdays, from 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm, starting October 1.
Library officials could work with brochure printers to create mailers for residents announcing the schedule, and inviting people to attend.
