North Olmsted race to benefit police force

People can participate in a race at North Olmsted Community Park to help raise money for a local branch of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

Race for the Blue is an event where athletes can run beside police officers and compete for awards. Those who sign up for the fundraising run will receive a custom T-shirt, finisher’s medal, and post-race refreshments. Officers from local communities are invited to take part in a side competition where they can challenge police teams from other neighborhoods. The group with the best average time will receive a trophy they can display in their city for a year.

Money earned from the races will benefit the Western Cuyahoga FOP Lodge 25. The FOP started in 1915 and currently has over 330,000 members in the United States. The Western Cuyahoga branch was formed in 1936 to help better the conditions of police officers. Cecil R. Bull was the first president of the lodge. People can help the organization improve the lives of police officers by donating online.

The racing fundraiser will be on Sunday, April 30 at 9:00 am. Those interested in joining the event can pay $30, and children may pay $15 to enter the Kids Dash. Prices for all the events will go up after April 27. Running events similar to this can use poster printing to make Signs that teach consumers about their charitable causes.
