The Burning River Roller Derby will be holding a fundraiser in North Olmsted to benefit a local youth center.
Black and Blue 15 is a charitable event where people can watch a roller derby match at the Soccer Sportsplex for a good cause. The fundraiser was put on hold for three years and is now returning to support the Colors+ Youth Center. The organizers recommend that attendees get vaccinated and wear masks to the event. Guests may not bring any nuts to the match because one of the participating skaters has a severe nut allergy.
The Colors+ Youth Center is a non-profit organization that provides a safe space for children and teens. Many programs are offered at the center, including art therapy sessions, game nights, and self-defense courses. The group is run by two licensed mental health counselors and is primarily funded by donations from the community. People can also assist the youth center by becoming a volunteer or donating books from the organization’s wish list.
The roller derby charity event will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 5:30 pm. General admission will cost $20, though kids, members of the military, and seniors can get a discount. Only guests who are 18 and older may sit on the side of the venue’s tracks. Companies that organize charitable programs like this may promote the fundraisers with flyer printing.
