Art lovers in North Olmsted had a treat recently, as the Mayor's Art Show opened with a reception for community members.
The Mayor's Art Show is presented by North Olmsted Mayor Kevin Kennedy, in collaboration with the North Olmsted Arts Commission. Students from North Olmsted High School created the artworks, which were hung in City Hall, where they will remain on display for a short time. School and city officials welcomed visitors to the reception, which was designed to celebrate the community's outstanding young artists. Exhibits like this can benefit if organizers use flyer printing to create handouts that describe the artwork and identify the artists. They can also include a brief biography of the young person.
The display of students' work is a collaboration between the city's Arts Commission, and the art department of the high school, and is a recurring event. The display has two goals. One is to increase the awareness and appreciation of members of the public for art in general; the second is to recognize students from the high school who have reached a significant level of proficiency in visual arts.
The exhibit will remain open to the public until April 26. The City Hall is on Dover Center Road, and is open from 8.00 am until 4.30 pm weekdays. Visitors are not supervised on their visits to the art gallery.
