The Ohio Hockey Project will hold a safety course in January at the North Olmsted Ice Rink.
The Body Contact & Battle Session is a class where children hockey players can learn how to protect themselves during games. The course is open to players on the Peewee and Bantam teams. Students will be taught how to safely and effectively engage their bodies. The instructor will also cover the proper angles for checking and how players can protect themselves from the puck. Off-ice training is not included in the program, and the course is an hour long.
The Ohio Hockey Project is an organization that helps develop the skills of hockey players through expert coaching. The group also offers nutrition and career advice to students. The lead skill instructors for the organization are Jacob Newtown and Charlie Cook. Newtown played at Northeastern University and signed with the Anaheim Ducks. Cook played at Cornell University and was part of the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
The hockey class will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Registration for the activity will cost $40 per student. The venue will also offer a shooting and stick-handling class on January 10th. Sports organizations in charge of lessons like these may use poster printing to share their coaching sessions with the community.
