New program announced for middle schoolers in North Olmsted

The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Department recently announced registration is open now for its inaugural after-school program. This will be offered at the recreation center.

Betsy Drenski, the city's recreation commissioner, said it's been discovered that students in the middle school age group may not be involved in after-school programs or sports, and need activities to enjoy. This is the first program targeted especially for that demographic.

The program will be in effect only during the time the school is in session. On weekdays, staff members from the recreation department will be at North Olmsted Middle School at 3:30 pm, to pick up students and take them to the recreation center. The students must be picked up from there by their parents by 5:30 pm. Brochure printing can be used to create materials describing programs like this.

While they are at the center, the students will have a chance to do their homework, and a tutor will be there to help out. Snacks will be on hand, and other activities in the center, such as ice skating and swimming, will be available, depending on the schedule and the season.

The new program is set to begin when school resumes. There are four sessions, with the first starting August 26. The fee for each student per session is $215, an average of $5 per day. Complete information is available on the North Olmsted City Schools website.
