Grunge rock is on the way to North Olmsted to take the city back to the 1990s and celebrate the grunge bands of that era.
Grunge DNA will appear at the Sly Fox soon, bringing the Seattle sound to Ohio. Grunge DNA's four members are based in Cleveland, and are a cover band playing the grunge music that came to be known as the Seattle sound. Major grunge bands include Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, all of which were formed in Seattle.
Grunge DNA's members include David Jenkins providing percussion and drums; Jim Black on bass guitar and backing up on vocals; Josh Nichols as back-up vocalist and lead guitarist, and Patrick Ziemak, lead vocalist. The band has evolved over the years, starting as a three-piece group, then expanding. Membership has changed as well.
The band focuses largely on the grunge bands from the Pacific Northwest, but also plays hits from other groups such as Nirvana, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Foo Fighters, Chris Isaak, Tom Petty, and Nine Inch Nails. They cite dozens of groups from which they've drawn inspiration, and whose songs they enjoy covering.
The concert is set for December 28, from 10:00 pm until 2:00 am on December 29. The Sly Fox is on Great Northern Boulevard in North Olmsted. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts with the playlists for events like this.
