Fairview Park to seek approval of bond issue

Fairview Park voters will have the opportunity to approve a bond issue this November. If they do so, the money, some $35.2 million, will be used to finance additions and renovations to a number of buildings in the city's school district.

According to an article on Cleveland.com, the project is intended to make what officials call ‘warm, safe and dry’ improvements to various buildings, as well as additions and renovations. Joslyn Dalton, president of the schoolboard, notes that the buildings – even Gilles-Sweet Elementary School, which is the newest – need some sort of repair or upgrade to make sure the environment is ideal for learning.

The article listed the work each building needs. Parkview Early Education Center will get handicap access, improved HVAC, improvements to its plumbing and electrical systems, technology updates, among other tweaks.

At Gilles-Sweet, improvements are planned to security systems, minor repairs to masonry are needed, and electrical work is scheduled.

At Lewis F. Mayer Middle School, there will be asbestos removal; handicap access, improvements to the fire alarm and fire suppression systems, and various improvements to security.

Fairview High School, which is connected to Lewis F. Mayer, will get a new addition housing an innovation center, new courtyard and cafeteria, locker rooms, exterior doors, and kitchen facilities.

Agencies like these can partner with flyer printing companies to create mailers informing residents about proposed work.
