Fairview Park throws its first Food Truck Festival

Food trucks are increasing in popularity, so Fairview Park officials organized an event featuring these foodie favorites.

The city-sponsored Food Truck Festival was the first to be held in Fairview Park. The party was free and thousands of residents came to enjoy the various foods available, which ranged from meatballs to crepes. They also listened to a local band, Cleveland’s Breakfast Club, who played ‘80s hits and got people on their feet dancing. In the spirit of the music, a white ‘Billy Idol’ wedding cupcake was offered for sale.

Among those serving beverages to the attendees were Fairview Park’s mayor, Eileen Patton, and other city officials. Matt Hrubey, Development Administrator for the city, explained how the idea for the festival started. The Fairview Park Recreation Department wanted to introduce more programming similar to October’s Fall Festival and the current Movie Nights, and hit on the idea of the food trucks.

Since this event was a success, city officials could work with a banner printing company to create sturdy Banners to use outdoors at upcoming Food Truck Festivals.

Hrubey noted that food trucks are “a growing trend” and a wonderful draw. He said the event was different from many others offered by the city because it was a festival that provided food and music, and still had activities popular with children.
