North Olmsted to have new country clubfor dogs
A new country club planned for North Olmsted is going to the dogs, but in a positive way.
Jude Johansen and her husband Arthur plan to open the Canine Country Club soon, taking over the space on Lorain Road that once housed Whitmer's Chandelier Shack.
Johansen says her concept is something new for the region, pointing out it is neither a dog park, kennel, nor boarding facility. She likes to say it is a dogs' recreation center, where suburban dogs, who might otherwise be crated all day at home while their people work, can come and play.
The club will offer a pool measuring four feet deep, as well as a large area where off-leash dogs can play. Programs and classes are planned, and Diane Pekarek, a canine massage therapist, will visit twice a week. Pekarek is nationally certified, as is the owner of Modern Dog Massage and Corporate Canine.
The fee for club membership has not been set yet, but Johansen is positive dog lovers will appreciate the range of services offered. She says people can drop off their dogs, then go on to work out at the gym themselves, while her staff exercises the pooches. The club also features a large window so people can watch their dogs playing.
The Canine Country Club is slated to open in fall this year. New businesses like this can use flyer printing to call attention to their services.
