New senior living complex coming to area near Lewis Center
A chain of facilities devoted to senior living, First & Main of Michigan, is expanding and will open two complexes in Ohio.
The complexes are being developed by the Granger Group. One will be located in New Albany, and the second will be built near Lewis Center.
Each of the new facilities will feature 104 units, of which 44 will be devoted especially to residents whose memories are impaired. The complexes comprise 100,000 square feet each, and cost between $25m and $30m, though the Granger Group will not specify the figure exactly. Each project will bring about 100 jobs to the region once they open.
Senior vice president of the Granger Group, Jason Granger, said he wanted to take a different approach than the usual development style. Although his company's background is in construction and investment, he notes that developing these senior residences has nothing to do with that, and “everything to do with people”.
Along those lines, the Ohio locations were chosen because there are activities residents can participate in nearby. New Albany, for instance, has a “Healthy New Albany” wellness initiative that will give the seniors a chance to interact with residents of the larger community.
The Granger Group might like to create brochures about the new facilities, and make them available to healthcare advocates in the area.
