Lewis Center-based bank set to grow

Delaware County Bank, which is based in Lewis Center, is set to start growing again.

Earlier this month, Ron Seiffert, Delaware's CEO, said the institution is once again stable, and wants to expand. It plans to do so by opening branches throughout Delaware County to fill gaps in its system. In addition, Delaware plans to build a physical site in Franklin County during the next few years, though Delaware County will remain its prime focus. The branch in Franklin County is part of a second phase.

Seiffert says the bank has 14 branches throughout Delaware County, an area that is growing rapidly. The growth has led Seiffert to consider expanding by acquiring another bank. He says that Delaware County Bank's stock has performed well recently, the balance sheet and income statement are strong, and acquisition is part of both intermediate- and long-term strategies. He believes central Ohio affords an attractive market for the institution.

Delaware County Bank is the 12th-largest bank in central Ohio, and has deposits of $437m. In the wake of the financial crisis, it closed its Marysville branch, the only branch not in Delaware County. It would now like to change that.

Bank officials could work with brochure printers to create a booklet for residents, explaining the bank's plans and inviting them to consider banking with Delaware County Bank.
