Shaw's Restaurant to expand

Lancaster diners have something to look forward to, as local Shaw's Restaurant plans to expand, according to its owner, Susie Cork Krutsch.

Krutsch plans to keep the restaurant open as she expands her operation to include a bakery, called Mable & Grace Bakery and Confections. She also revealed that the existing dining room will be renovated to make it more elegant.

She says her bakery will have French croissants, but will concentrate on more traditional American-style baked goods. She also says she wants it to be approachable, not fancy, which means her treats will be reasonably priced. However, she adds, she plans to use real eggs and butter and other fresh ingredients, so prices will reflect that. The bakery will be made to resemble a similar shop from the 1950s or 1960s. There will also be delivery service available.

The bakery is moving into the space now occupied by the bar, which will move to the other side of the building, taking over a space that once housed a piano bar. The renovated bar will be named ‘Harry's’ to honor Harry Shaw, who was the original owner.

Krutsch expects renovations to take approximately three months, and hopes to open the new part of the business in June or July this year.

Businesses like this can benefit by working with a flyer printing company to create handouts, including coupons, to celebrate the opening.
