New event center open in Lancaster

Brad Hutchinson, owner of the Company Wrench, is renovating a number of buildings in Lancaster. His latest project transformed the building formerly housing the Tavern on the Mill into The Mill Event Center.

Most recently, the building was known as the Glass City Event Center, and was home to rock concerts hosted by Mickey Eaton, the owner. Once, the building was Mickey’s Tavern, but was damaged by an electrical fire in 2016.

In October 2016, Eaton sold the building to Hutchinson who began converting it into the planned event center. The center is located on the ground floor, and there are four apartments on the floor above. The event center will hold approximately 300 people.

Destination Downtown Lancaster held its annual dinner in the new space last month, making it the first event to be held in the renovated structure. Others are already on the schedule, despite the fact that Hutchinson and his workers are still putting on the final touches. While the event center is nearly complete, the apartments are still being worked on.

Hutchinson says the project has involved a total rehab, with only the original floors and walls remaining. The rest of the building is brand new.

Projects like this can benefit if owners and managers work with a brochure printing company to create an illustrated brochure of the center’s amenities that can be used to attract tenants and users.
