Planet Fitness is moving into the space formerly occupied by Carnival Foods on Memorial Drive, in the Plaza Shopping Center.
Mark Christie is the manager of the local Planet Fitness, and says the new exercise center will offer 100 cardio machines, such as elliptical machines and treadmills, as well as equipment for weight training. The facility is expected to cost as much as $2.2m. When new facilities like this open, managers could distribute Promotional Products to build brand awareness.
Christie said the company had been considering Lancaster for the past five years, waiting for the right property to become available. When Carnival Foods moved out last year, Planet Fitness felt the time was right for the company, as it sees the Lancaster market as being underserved.
The Carnival Foods building has 70,000 square feet in total, but Planet Fitness will only use 22,000 square feet. The facility will also be open seven days per week, 24 hours per day. Christine notes that people who are on the second or third shift come in when they have finished work, so the gym is active the entire night.
He added that the round-the-clock operation allows people to come in and work out before going on to their job, adding that those who want to work out quickly will find the 30-minute routines ideal.
The new facility will employ 20 to 30 people, and is geared toward newcomers to fitness, rather than workout buffs.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
