Lancaster bank grows its premises

Standing Stone Bank, located on Wheeling Street in Lancaster, recently expanded into a house it has owned for approximately five years.

The house is on Mulberry Street, directly behind the bank, and started serving as a new operations department in mid-July.

Jeff Beard, the CEO and president of the bank, said they had run out of space, and people were very confined in the operations department. In addition, there wasn't enough room to hold board meetings in the bank. Instead, they would have to find a director's office for the purpose.

The new space that is housing operations also has enough room for other meetings. Some of the departments that have moved into the building include accounting, deposits, and loan applications.

Beard added that the space is very versatile and he expects it will work well for the bank. At the moment, they are ironing out ways for the two offices to communicate with one another, since right now there is a lot of traveling back and forth.

Customers will not have access to the SSB, Beard said. There's a lot of basement space that can be used to store records, and the building has still more space that could be used in a future expansion. Overall, the move will make matters better for both bank employees and their customers.
