Duke to visit Lancaster

Royalty is set to visit Lancaster in the form of a duke—Duke Nukem, that is.

Duke Nukem is the hero of a video game of the same name that had its first release in 1991. The story is that Blunderwitz, a scientist, has gone mad from exposure to radiation. Known as Dr. Proton, he is out to conquer the world using his Techbots. All attempts to stop him fail, leading the CIA to hire Duke Nukem. The Duke pursues Dr. Proton through a ruined city, then to the moon, and ends up chasing him through time. The success of the first game spawned additional releases throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

The Duke was as popular for his one-liners and self-deprecating humor as for his action. The talented voice behind the hero is Jon St. Jon, who will be in Lancaster for a special appearance, courtesy of Fandomondemand and Fathom. The actor-singer will be at O'Huids for lunch, a tequila tasting, and a chance to hang out with fans.

St. Jon, a California native, worked in radio for years, in stations from New Orleans to Phoenix. He has also voiced characters in dozens of other video games including “Star Trek Online,” “This is the Police,” and “Evil Zone.”

Fans can meet St. Jon at O'Huids Gaelic Pub on May 15 from 4:00 pm until 11:30 pm. Flyer printing is frequently used to publicize events like this.
