A Boardman fundraising event was hosted by Shepherd Self Storage to raise funds while honoring a local auto racer.
On October 9, the Michael Fox Remembrance Foundation ‘Spooktacular’ Car Show raised money for the foundation. According to its website, the funds will assist in providing BMW scholarships for young racers. The event was held from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm at Shepherd Self Storage’s Shepherd Event Center at 7469 South Ave. in Boardman.
Fox, who died in 2006 in an automobile accident, began his racing career at eight years old racing go-karts, and at age thirteen made the jump to competing at the national level. In addition to racing, Fox, who was born on October 31, 1983, was also an artist and model.
The car show, which was open to the public, featured food, music, an auction, a costume contest and children’s trick-or-treating for a donation of $5. Automobiles competed for awards in 10 categories while four stars from the Discovery Channel TV show ‘Fast N’ Furious’ greeted their fans.
In addition to indoor, drive-up, and vehicle storage, Shephard Self Storage is no stranger when it comes to poster and flyer printing to advertise fundraisers. The company regularly hosts events at its Shepherd Event Center, where 3.2 acres of paved outdoor space and an indoor area of 40,000 square feet are on offer.
