The Boardman community is pulling together to give Center Middle School an extreme makeover once classes have finished for the school year.
Using mostly donated materials, parents and other volunteers will gather during the week of June 13 to give a fresh, new look to Center Middle School, which is located here in Boardman.
Parts of the school are over 100 years old, but the district is not in a financial position to replace the facility. Therefore, in lieu of a new building, the school administration turned to the local community to put a fresh face on the school’s interior.
The ultimate success of the project may very well depend on the effectiveness of the promotional efforts used to raise money and enlist volunteers. For a project such as this one, the best use of resources would likely involve a flyer printing service
Randy Ebie, principle of Center Middle School, outlined the revitalizing efforts saying that the school has ongoing fundraising efforts, including its ‘adopt a classroom’ program. Money raised goes toward paint. The project’s corporate sponsor is Sherwin-Williams, which is donating part of the needed paint and reducing the cost of the rest.
The big paint job will not start until school finishes for the summer, but according to Ebie, consultants have already developed a new color scheme for school common areas, walls, and lockers.
