Panda Express reached out on August 2 to Youngstown’s The Vindicator, with information on the opening of a local branch to be located in Boardman.
The global chain will be opening a restaurant here in late September as part of its expansion across Ohio. Cleveland has recently seen the opening of a Panda Express, with the communities of Avon and Mentor to receive their own branches in the near future.
Construction, across from Primanti Bros. on South Avenue, has already begun on Boardman’s Panda Express. The chain, which was started by Andrew and Peggy Cherng, is based in California. Since its opening in 1983, the company has opened 1,900 locations around the globe.
As the Boardman branch’s opening date draws closer, locals may begin seeing the Panda Express Logo Design on a variety of promotional items. Additionally, as is often the case when a grand opening is imminent, there will likely be a banner on display at the location toward the end of September.
Categorizing itself as a fast-casual restaurant, Panda Express professes to offer a genuine family environment. A representative for the company, in an exchange with the newspaper, noted the chain’s “health-minded Wok Smart selections”, as well as its orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and Shanghai Angus steak.
The new Boardman restaurant is anticipating the hiring of 20 to 25 employees.
